Mother Daughter Conversations… Happy Mother’s Day!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have put together a collection of my mom’s and my conversations over the years.  Of course, some won’t be as funny to people who don’t know us, personally, but I think they give you a picture of how awesome my mom is, and maybe how silly we are together.  I am very fortunate to have a mother with a sense of humor!  Without further ado, here are some typical mom-daughter phone conversations for us…

After I won a trip to Vegas to see George Strait in concert, I decided to take my mom with me as my plus one….  Keep in mind, she is not a country music fan (but everyone knows George Strait is amazing, country fan or not!).

Me:  I’m excited for the Vegas and Orlando concerts!  It’s going to be a lot of fun!

Mom:  Am I going to Vegas as your chaperone?  “Keep away from the chapel!”

Me:  You know Vegas is 2-3 hours behind us…. the concert starts at 7pm, it’ll be 9-10pm our time.  Night night time for you.

Mom:  Well it’s yucky anyways.  I’m going to yell, “It’s Yucky!  Turn it down!!”

Me:  Oh, Mom…. <sigh>

Mom:  I want to go to the Pawn Stars store while we’re there.

Me:   You know, we’re going to need to make a schedule, so we have a plan.  We won’t have a lot of time there.

Mom:  You know, if we eliminate the concert, we’ll have a lot of extra time.

Me:   MOM!!  That’s the reason we have the trip in the first place!

Mom: Fine.  We have to get our pictures taken like showgirls at one of those cardboard cut out things where you stick your head in the hole!!!

Me:  I would have liked going to dinner with my friends, but I actually cooked tonight!

Mom:  What, ramen noodles?

Me:  No!  …..spaghetti.

Mom:  (long long story about a girl we don’t particularly favor) so, I think I’ll tell her to come stay with you!

Me:  <groan>  Thanks.

We have owned several Boston Terriers over the years, all with really interestingly unique personalities…

Mom:  Wobet (the dog) is, like, surfing on me.

My mother works for a park and I sent myself a package near Christmas time with gifts in it to her so they would be there when I arrived…

Me:    Did you get my email about the package coming?

Mom:  Is the package you sent (to the park) for meeee??? A present for meeee?!?!

Me:    Just ignore it.  I put your name on it so they wouldn’t throw it away.  Don’t even look at it.

Mom:   Are you sending illicit drugs and paraphernalia to the park?

Me:   Of course, so don’t look at the package coming.  Thanks in advance.

My folks have been together for over 30 years…

Mom: All right, I’m getting off the phone.  I’m going to go look at your dad now.

Second conversation, half an hour or so later…

Me:   Are you done looking at Dad yet?

Mom: Yeah, he shifted and then got up.  That was enough.

As aforementioned, my mom works for a place that has a river for tubing (with basic inner-tubes).  In discussing Mother’s Day and what to do on Facebook, tubing on the river came up…

Me:  We could spend time in the park… (mostly meant as a joke, since she is there everyday of her life.)tubes

Mom:  Yes!  We can go tubing!!  (she posted this picture.)

Mom won….

In response to a photo of the river my mom posted, shortly after the tubing comment…

Me:  Is this the spot for your Mother’s Day? lol

Mom:   No! The goats can’t be by the river! Lol

Me:   Why not? Can’t dogs?

Mom:  No…not by the water. We have other wildlife that goes there! Lol

Me:  Chomp Chomps? (meaning alligators)

Mom:  No…not chomp chomps or hiss hisses….much more mobile type of wildlife!

Me:  yak yaks? (meaning people)

Mom:  More like water buffalo, hippos and turkeys….

Me:  From the river!?!?

At Christmas time, I received this text from my mom:

Mom:  I tired!  I wrap, wrap, wrap presents all afternoon!  I’m going to have so many presents to open!! (meaning they are allll for her)

One of my mom’s recent Facebook posts:goats

Mom:  Just going for a typical Saturday drive in the country!  (with this photo posted of her ‘kids’)

That’s just some of the funny conversations we have shared over the last couple of years, and I look forward to many, many more laughs!  I love my mom and I am very blessed to have such an awesome one!

Love you, Mom!
