I like easy, and Receipt Hog is EASY!  No scanning items, no specific stores, no weekly offers to wait for, nothing like that!  All you need is a smart phone (Android or iPhone) and receipts from your shopping trips! Plain and simple!  I use an Android Droid Turbo and it works great with the app, even after the recent Receipt Hog update (they are really good about their updates, no crashing or anything crazy).

One of my favorite things about this app is it takes about 30 seconds to upload a receipt.  Of course, if you have a really long receipt, it could take up to a minute.  Oh, darn.  If you have Hog Slot spins available, then it may take extra time, but hey! spins are fun and you could win more coins! Oh, yeah!

OK, so let me walk you through how to use Receipt Hog and get you started earning coins (points) towards cash redemption.

Step 1: Follow this link to download the app and create a login.

Step 2: After you have successfully created a login, complete your profile information.

Step 3: Gather your recent shopping receipts and click “camera.”
You can use receipts from grocery stores, club stores, convenience stores, pet stores, dollar stores, and drug stores to earn coins towards cash redemption. Non-grocery stores, such as clothing and department stores, electronic stores, office supply stores and others can earn you slot spins (not points).  Hog Slots are just that:  slots!  You have a chance to “pull” the lever to try to get three of the same items in a row to win coins, more spins and cash!

Step 4: Snap your receipt!
Receipts must be no older than 7 days.  Make sure you the store name, date and total are clear in the photo. For extra-long receipts, you can take more than one photo to capture the whole thing.

Step 5: When photo is complete, click “done” and “looks good.” Click on the people who were on the shopping trip and give it a star rating (see photo, it will make sense and is super easy, I promise).
Now you are done submitting the receipt!

For grocery receipts, Receipt Hog will process your receipt and give you coins based on the dollar amount spent as follows:
Less than $10: 5 coins
$10-$50: 10 coins
$50-$100: 15 coins
More than $100: 20 coins

You can also achieve new “Levels” and “Challenges,” which are based on how many total weeks in a row and in a month you feed your hog receipts. You can earn additional Hog Slot spins and coins for making weekly receipt uploads.  More spins? Yes!!

Another way to earn bonus Hog Slot spins is through referrals, so sign up and get to referring!  I don’t recommend creating more than one account of your own, as you cannot upload duplicate receipt because they use the results for market research.

As you can see, this is really simple!  Of course, after you have downloaded the app and created a login, Steps 1 and 2 go away. Snapping receipts are all that’s left to do, and the more shopping trips you upload, the more points you will receive.

Payouts can be made through Paypal or an Amazon gift card, and payment is made within 7 days. And another thing I love about Receipt Hog is that I don’t get spam email, or really many emails at all.  The occasional email notifying me of an upcoming update, but I really enjoy no spam.
