About us

Wanderlust in My Heart

I owe my love for travel to my grandparents—my “Momer” and Papa. They sparked my wanderlust during summer and winter school vacations when I was growing up. Our adventures ranged from camping on Lake Okeechobee during the Christmas holidays to weddings in Atlanta, and family visits across New England that opened my eyes to the world of theater. One of my fondest memories is spending an entire summer RVing across the United States. Starting in Florida, we explored the southern states to Texas, ventured north to Wyoming, and made our way back east to visit family in South Dakota before returning home. Along the way, we camped at diverse campgrounds, met incredible people, and marveled at iconic sights like the Mississippi River, Alamo, Grand Canyon, Grand Teton, Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Memorial. This journey truly ignited my passion for travel! And while Momer has been gone since 2006, my wanderlust has not waivered at all.
My adventures, growing up with my family moving frequently until I was about five, contributed to my free spirit and desire to explore every corner of the globe. Although my initial plan was to pack my belongings into my car (or a backpack) and roam wherever the road took me, life (and love) intervened. Since meeting my husband in early 2012, I’ve embraced every opportunity to travel, including an unforgettable “solo road trip of a lifetime” in 2012. Since then, I’ve explored many, many places in the US and internationally, and I have no plans of slowing down! Whether solo, with friends, with my mom, or alongside my wonderful husband Joe, each journey has shaped my travel story. Sebastian Squirrel and Hubby Joe are the best travel partners I could ever want!

My Incredible

Hubby’s Travel Time

Thankfully, Hubby Joe shares my passion for exploration, making us the perfect travel duo! Together, we strive to travel as much as we can, sharing our adventures through our YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and blog. Expect a lot of posts from me, but you’ll also hear from him from time to time, who brings his unique perspective and experiences to our adventures. He spent his childhood sailing the waters of Florida and walking miles and miles through cities, so his stories are just as captivating!

A Little This and That

Along the way, we’ll sprinkle in our tips for saving money to travel and how we’ve made our travel dreams a reality. We’ll share practical money-saving techniques, ways to earn extra income, and our research habits because we believe that living the life you desire is all part of the adventure!

The Future

We have been steadily working towards being full-time “World Citizens,” expats or nomads, where we move into not exactly retirement, but a work-optional lifestyle. Primarily with international living ambitions, we plan to trot around the world, immersing ourselves in the cultures we encounter, learning how to coexist with locals, volunteer where needed, and fully engage in community. Travel will always be a part of our lives, from local day trips to far-flung international adventures. Our goal is to share valuable insights, lessons learned from our experiences (both successes and setbacks), and inspiration to help you create unforgettable journeys of your own. We also hope you will help educate us as on our adventures!

We invite you to join us as we explore, learn, and inspire you to escape the ordinary! May our travel stories encourage you to embrace your wanderlust and pursue the adventures that await.

Happy Trails!

The Wanderlusts at Heart,
KD & Hubby Joe
